| Lord Ganesha |
[Nov. 17th, 2008|06:46 pm] |
Ganesha is one of the most worshiped and diverse deities in the Hindu pantheon. Ganesha is known as the the remover of obstacles, and Guardian of the thresholds. This was commissioned by one of the Yoga Studio Directors shortly before I got let go. I was hesitant to post it as it very much was a working experiment for me. This piece is done entirely in illustrator, and with the gradient mesh tool. now I know its not /perfect/ but this taught me alot about how to use that took for lighting and what not..doing is the best way to learn! so yea ^^; I also wanted to rush finish this to add to my folio for a interview Wednesday.

Lazy weekend back at the ranch… and away from the blazing inferno that is Southern California.
There should be more dangerous old guys that look vaguely like me in anime shows with "coyote" in the title. Found one so far: Coyote Ragtime Show. Typical over-the-top space mayhem with a Firefly-ish flavor. Fun.
Watching all that animation made me miss animating:

SAI is a not-too-bad animation tool though I don't think it was intended as one. There goes an afternoon of my life I'll never get back. Too much work when I'm not getting paid to do it… but what else have I got to occupy my time?
Oh yeah… shepherding. Tay's been with me in So Cal for the last two weeks and the dim-witted sheep have forgotten they're supposed to do what he tells them. It's wonderful what a nose full of fangs will do to suddenly improve the memory. Maybe we should use the technique on Alzheimer's patients?
Speaking of over-the-top mayhem, the latest 007 movie was a real fun ride. I liked it much more than Casino Royale. |

| [ | mood |
| | amused | ] | I've babbled about being new to using a tablet before - I've been learning to color digitally with one.
Lately I've tried drawing with one.
Well, actually I've been drawing with one for a little while, but my RP IC character journal doesn't count
Yes, I have an IC journal for Monkey.... you may call me a geek.
ANYWAYS...
I did this thing in Painter of my Death Knight (well at the time, future Death Knight). Is not bad... but I still need practice.
I'm currently working on a logo for someone's blog (tauren knitting a Doctor Who scarf in front of a computer). I decided to do it all digitally for more practice. I'm getting better... slowly. I can feel the synapses connecting! ;)
And now I leave you with tiny horsies.

Well we beat the first instance in Wrath! It was a lot of fun, paired with the fact we had no idea what to do and just kinda winged it (we only wiped once on the final dragon boss(
LOVING Wrath so far :D |

Greg and I watched Kung fu Panda last night. OMG. Loved. And there was a monkey! And the monkey looked like a monkey and moved like a monkey! I squealed. And the turtle was awesome, and was totally Sputnik. She's a Kung fu master don't you know.
We went to Game Stop at about 11:30 last night. The mass buying of Lich King actually made the credit card systems across the country go down. Two years ago, when we went to the midnight release of Burning Crusade, there was maybe 10 people there. This time, there was a huge crowd... and there was actually other girls there. ;) We ended up chatting to a girl who had just moved to town recently and plays with both her hubby and kid, and also a guy who didn't seem to have any high level characters and was baffled by words like "nerf," "vent" and "overpowered." The girl seemed REALLY excited to talk with local people about WoW. I was amused.
Her: "I've been playing since December!" *giddy happy* Me: *mumbling* "I've been playing for four years." Her: "OH WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!"
*snort snort*
Anyways....
Um.
Oh yeah... art. |

He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carrier didn't run out of fuel.
He is the barroom loudmouth whose behavior is outweighed in the cosmic scales by four hours of unparalleled bravery near the 38th Parallel in Korea.
She is the nurse who fought against futility in Da Nang and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years.
He is the POW who left one person and came back another.
He is the drill instructor who has never been in combat, but has saved countless lives by turning no-accounts into Marines.
He is the parade-riding legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand.
He is the white-haired guy bagging groceries at the supermarket, aggravatingly slow, who helped liberate a Nazi death camp.
A vet is an ordinary and extraordinary human being — someone who offered his life's vital years in the service of his country.
He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known. We will never be able to repay the debt of gratitude we owe.

Be sure to honor those that serve, and remember those that have fallen. They put everything they have on the line so we ccan have out rights, freedoms, and securities. Keep them in your thoughts, say a prayer for them, thank them in person.
To soldiers and veterans everywhere, Thank You.

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow, Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army - In Flanders Fields
They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. |

| Goodbye Livejournal Idol |
[Nov. 10th, 2008|01:22 pm] |
So I was knocked out of Livejournal Idol this past week.
To be honest I almost didn't even post an entry and the one I did was hastly thrown together just before the deadline for that week. In the end I decided that I would rather be voted out then just whimp out.
See a few weeks ago something happened that put a bad taste in my mouth about this whole competition, and while I am normally light hearted about such things, I felt that no matter what I did I would be under watchful eyes if you will.
So I posted, didn't ask for votes, and just kinda let the winds blow where they may. CAn't say I'm upset, just kinda dissapointed.
Will I do this all again next year? Maybe, but right now I'm kinda glad to be out :) (though I will be voting for those of you on my friendslist ;) |

| LJ Idol Week 7- Hoping against hope |
[Nov. 7th, 2008|09:49 am] |
I have a bad habit of always hoping for the best in people. While there are times that I am proven that this is the case, there are others that make me think that there is no one left in this world with anything kind or good in their heart.
I have worked with customers for 99% of my working life. Even when I was just a receiptionist I still dealt with the angry calls from various people that seemed to think that the world owed them everything and that included the right to yell at people for no real reason.
Working customer service in any way shape or form will make almost anyone rethink the kindness in humanity. It seems like for some people, they feel if they are paying for something then they deserve the sun, sky and moon, plus a little song and dance, or else nothing will be good enough for them.
Sure there are people out there that still are good and kind, but honestly I've come down to this point where I am a people person that doesn't really like a lot of people.
I guess now that I am a waitress, and start my shift everyday hoping for good tips, and really put my best foot forward with everyone, that I just feel that there are some people out there in the world that will never ever be happy.
For me, my biggest hope out there, is that I can always find something to be happy about. Which of course is hard with how much stuff is going on in the world today, and how disconnected we have become with the internet...but still I keep my sunny outlook on life and keep trucking along, cause sometimes all you have in this crazy world is hope that tomorrow will be better then today |
